How To Install Blinds with an Inside Mount

Follow these step-by-step instructions for blinds with an inside mount. Gather the tools that you will need. You will need a pencil (or marker), ruler (or yardstick), two screwdrivers (preferably one Flat-head and one Phillips), an electric drill, a level (this is optional) and a pair of pliers for optional features.

Each blind comes with right-hand and left-hand brackets for mounting the blind, and can be used for either an inside or outside mounting. There are two screws to mount each bracket and these screws can be used for wood or sheet metal mounting surfaces. If you are installing the blind on drywall or plaster, it is recommended that you use anchors for both screws. For an inside mount, hold the brackets level and flush with the window opening and with the bracket doors facing towards you. Mark the spot where both screws should be placed. Mark the spots for the support bracket if you are using one or more of these. Line up the center support(s) with the end mounting brackets so they will not interfere with the blind ladders. If you have more than one, space them out evenly to avoid other working parts.

Drill starter holes where you have placed the marks for the screws. Remember that the window
depth must be at least 4 inches to install a 3 inch blind.

Using the appropriate screwdriver, insert the screws through holes on the inside of each bracket into the window frame. Do the same for the support bracket(s).

Open the bracket doors and place slide the headrail into both mounting brackets. Then close both bracket doors. Check to be sure the headrail is being supported properly by any additional support brackets you have just installed.

Next attach the valance clips to the front lip of the headrail and push to snap them into place.
Place one clip at each end, spacing the others evenly in between, but no further apart than 48 inches. You must
attach the valance clips to the headrail first before attaching the valance to the valance clips.

If you have valance returns, pull the returns to a totally open position. Next bend each plastic
valance hinge tabs towards valance return and put the leading edge of each tab under the hinge lip on the return.

Attach the valance to your blind by aligning the clips on your headrail with the back of your
blind valance. Press the valance's face to secure it into place.

To keep the bottom of your blind from swaying when the blind has been mounted on a door or is
exposed to the weather, you use the hold-down brackets (optional). There is one bracket for each end of your blind.
Following the same steps you used to install the top brackets, screw these brackets into the bottom of your window
opening (window jam or sill). Place the pin of the bottomrail's end cap into each hold-down bracket.

If you ordered a wand tilt control, install it by pulling the cap off of the wand and slip the end
of the wand onto the hook on the front of your blind.

To clean your blinds, dust them with a soft, clean cloth, dusting mitt, brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner,
or with a chemically-treated dust cloth. Extend your blind to its total length and close the slats before dusting. Do the
opposite side with the same technique. To reach the areas where the slaps overlap, just leave the slats slightly open when
you dust.
