Graber Wood Blinds
There are different markings or characteristics in hardwoods that occur naturally and do not affect the structural integrity or durability of the wood used in Graber blinds. These characteristics are not considered to be defects. Since no two pieces of hardwood are alike, you will find many natural characteristics that serve to make Graber Traditions Wood Blinds truly unique.
Wood Characteristics (see pictures below)
- Burl Grain is formed from an irregular growth on the outer edge of the tree.
- Wood grain is the appearance of wood fibers which varies greatly depending on where the wood is cut inside the tree and on the size, appearance and direction of these wood fibers.
- Pin Knots markings vary in size, color, structure and shape.
- Bird's Eyes are small areas on the board's surface where the wood fibers are twisted and form circular markings that look like a bird's eye.
- Mineral Marks are discolored or dark areas created by minerals that the tree has extracted from water or the soil. These markings can be a streak or stain and tend to be blackish-blue.
