Wooden Chunk Boards

Maple Cutting Board

Hard Rock Sugar Maple cutting boards known as End Grain Boards are highly valued due to their durability and artistic wood patterns. The beautiful design allows the board to be left out on a countertop so that a cutting surface is readily available at all times. We offer two sizes. The smaller board is 12 inches by 12 inches while the larger board is 16 inches by 16 inches. Both cutting boards are 2-1/2" thick. These Chunk Cutting Boards are highly durable and will last a lifetime.

So what is "End-Grain" and why is it considered to be a better cutting surface? This design occurs when the individual boards of wood are arranged causing the grain to run vertically (up and down). This arrangement creates a cutting surface that is actually many individual pieces of hardwood With the grain aligned in this manner. Whenever a knife strikes the surface during cutting, it causes the wood's grain to actually separate and then close when the knife is removed. The wood in this instance becomes "self-healing" and accounts for the end-grain surface effect. You don't actually cut the wood itself, but instead you cut between the fibers of the individual pieces of wood. These Chunk Boards will last a lifetime and come with a five year guarantee from the manufacturer. Each of these boards are certified by NSF, which is accepted as the ultimate endorsement of sanitary, food safe products.
